Documentary on Johnny Hicklenton’s experiences of living with MS

Channel 4’s sister station More4 screens a documentary on Tuesday 17th February as part of its True Stories season, which will explore the emotions and feelings of graphic artist, Johnny Hicklenton, who has MS.

Entitled ‘Here’s Johnny’, the documentary shows Johnny living with MS over a period of years and sees him talk of the ‘war’ he is fighting against his condition.

As such, the mood of the film is dark, at times aggressive and features scenes and content some viewers may find distressing. The film shows him show him trying unproven treatments for his condition, discussing death and suicide and features a number of his graphic works, which some viewers may find disturbing.

The MS Society has worked closely with film makers Animal Monday, and with More4, to ensure that any necessary support is available to people affected by MS who watch the film. The Society’s free Helpline (0808 800 8000) is open from the end of the programme until 12.30am and the details should be given out at the end of the programme.
