Neurological Alliance Objectives 2010

The Neurological Alliance belongs to its members and we welcome ideas and participation at every level of our work. As a member, there will be plenty of opportunities for For Dementia to help us shape the neurological agenda. Priorities for the Neurological Alliance in 2010 are:

  • to allow members scope to develop Alliance policy and to plan our collective work with involvement in our Policy Group,
  • to focus on the collective Manifesto and it’s 2 key priorities, ensuring ongoing commitment to agreements such as a mid-term review of the NSF LTNC and the appointment of clinical champions,
  • to support the further establishment of Regional Neurological Alliances (RNAs) across England, who are become increasingly active in shaping services,
  • to encourage the Care Quality Commission to address services for people with a neurological condition,
  • to ensure the quality of neurological information and advice available on-line at NHS Choices Health A-Z is improved,
  • to set up a Research Group to take forward the research side of the Manifesto and to build our evidence base for campaigning,
  • to host two national high profile events for member organisations,
  • to help shape the neurological portion of the Department of Health’s Management of Long Term Conditions conference,
  • to set up a Communications Group to strengthen the voice of the Alliance,
  • to coordinate the first meeting of the National Leadership group,
  • to deliver a stakeholder event with the Department of Health and the Long Term Conditions team to develop Indicators for Quality Improvement, and
  • to work with the Department of Health to influence the mid-term review methodology.

I hope you agree that there are many ways in which we could be stronger together, nationally and locally.
