Numbers

Read more about it! Go to NeuroNumbers. It’s free to download and where these numbers come from.

How many people in the UK have a neurological condition?

10 million. That's one in every six of us.

Of them, how many are disabled by their condition?

Over 1 million. If you want to find out about organisations which can help with these conditions and others, take a look at our members.

How many people are diagnosed each year?

Someone in the UK is diagnosed with a neurological condition every minute. This adds up to 600,000 people (1% of the UK population) a year.

If you're one of them, take a look at our booklet “Getting the best from neurological services”. It’s free to download.

Are the numbers reliable?

We believe they may be an underestimate. The NHS does not collect this information. It should. We have been campaigning for a long time for it to start. But we are pleased that our figures were used by the Government to answer two parliamentary questions.
