Rare Diseases

A rare disease is one that affects fewer than 5-in-10,000 people, but most have less than 1-in-100,000.

Today, the Department of Health has launched a consultation on first ever UK plan for rare diseases. According to this plan on rare diseases, earlier diagnosis of a rare condition and better coordinated care will help improve the quality of life for people with rare diseases and their families.
