The Big Care Debate

The Government is currently consulting on radical reforms to the care and support system in England. The Big Care Debate – the consultation on the long-awaited Social Care Green Paper – will run until 13 November 2009. At the heart of the green paper is a proposal to establish a national care service, providing all people with needs above a single England-wide threshold with access to some public funding for their care in older age.

Dan Berry, Head of Policy and Campaigns at the MS Society, is leading all work on the Social Care Green Paper for the Alliance’s Policy Group. If your organisation would like to contribute their views, please send them to tahani.saridar@neural.org.uk
