Neurological Alliance Annual Meeting

Annual General Meeting

11.00-12.30, Dana Centre, 165 Queen’s Gate, London SW7 5HE

Members and Regional Neurological Alliances attended this closed session to discuss the internal business of the Alliance. Our Annual Report was approved by those present and election of Trustees took place.

Two Trustees have stepped down from the Executive Committee for 2009-10:

Jon Barrick, Chief Executive of the Stroke Association

Alan Pulford, Vice-Chairman of Parkinson’s Disease Society, Trafford Branch

Many thanks go out to them both for their contributions as Trustees of the Alliance and we look forward to continuing to work with them in other capacities in the future.

We are very pleased that all other 2008-9 Trustees have agreed to continue on in their roles for the forthcoming year and we welcome two new Trustees to the Alliance for 2009-10:

Andrew Ketteringham, Director, External Affairs, Alzheimer’s Society

Sharon Wood, General Secretary, Joint Epilepsy Council

The Alliance looks forward to an active year under the Governance of all our Trustees.

Making Brain and Spine Disease Matter Forum

13.30-16.30

Following on from the Neurological Alliance AGM, the Making Brain and Spine Disease Matter Forum was sponsored by NHS Choices and open to all delegates interested in attending.

The Brain and Spine Forum looked at:

• how we can raise the profile of neurological conditions with decision-makers at a national and local level

• how public perceptions of stroke, cancer and dementia have been changed

• how the brain and spine charities can tackle this challenge together
