Alliance submits evidence to two Parliamentary Committees on impact of COVID-19 on people with neurological conditions

Over the past two weeks we have submitted evidence to the Women and Equalities Select Committee Inquiry on the Unequal impact of Coronavirus (Covid-19) on people with protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 – which includes characteristics such as disability, age, gender and ethnicity – and to the Health and Care Select Committee on Delivering Core NHS and Care Services during the Pandemic and Beyond.

We are very grateful to our members who provided feedback on the first draft of our submission for the Women & Equalities Inquiry, as we were able to use much of this detail in our second DHSC submission too. In both our submissions we emphasised the widespread cancellation of routine outpatient appointments and treatments for people with neurological conditions, concerns around who was in the original ‘shielding’ group and problems with accessing rehabilitation, amongst many other concerns.

We hope these submissions will be a marker for our future work with parliamentarians, to highlight the often forgotten needs of people with neurological conditions.
