Millions can’t wait: Alliance asks public to support National Neuro Plan
15/07/2026
The Neurological Alliance is asking members of the public to show their support for a national plan for neurological conditions by adding their signatures to an open letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
The open letter calls on government to introduce a Modern Service Framework for neurological conditions. Modern Service Frameworks are long-term national plans that sets clear standards so everyone can access high-quality care, wherever they live. Anyone in the UK can add their signature and show their support.
The government has already published two Modern Service Frameworks, covering cardiovascular disease and sepsis, and has committed to producing Modern Service Frameworks for other conditions. This shows their commitment to using Modern Service Frameworks as a vehicle for delivering long term improvements in care for people with major health conditions.
The Neurological Alliance believes people affected by neurological conditions deserve the same commitment. Too many people experience long waits, fragmented care and avoidable emergency admissions because they cannot access the right care at the right time. But the government has not yet agreed to deliver a Modern Service Framework for neurological conditions.
Together with people affected by neurological conditions, the MS Society and over 30 patient and professional organisations, The Neurological Alliance has already developed and published The Case for Support for a Modern Service Framework for Neurological Conditions and shared this evidence with Government.
Now the alliance is calling on members of the public to show their support and sign the open letter as part of the Neuro Plan Now campaign, hosted together with the MS Society.
Georgina Carr, Chief Executive of The Neurological Alliance, said:
“Neurological conditions can affect anyone at any time. Neurological conditions affect millions of people. They are among the biggest causes of ill health and disability. Yet there is still no national plan to improve neurological care in England. This must change.
The recent publication of the first Modern Service Frameworks is an important step forward. People affected by neurological conditions deserve the same commitment. Please add your voice to our call for a Modern Service Framework for neurological conditions and sign our open letter today.
Together, we can show the Government we need a national neuro plan now. People affected by neurological conditions cannot wait any longer.”
If you are able, please read and sign the open letter today.
